Who We Are

About Horizon EMS

Two clinicians, one island, and a genuine belief that it deserves great independent medical services.

How We Started

Built on the Island,
for the Island

Horizon EMS came out of a straightforward observation – that the Isle of Man didn’t have a professional, independent ambulance and medical service that could serve the whole range of clinical needs the island has. Event cover, patient transport, repatriation, training. All of it under one roof, done properly.

So we built one. We’re not a franchise, we’re not a subsidiary of a UK company, and we’re not running a call centre from somewhere else. We’re Isle of Man based, Isle of Man registered, and the people who answer the phone are the people who do the jobs.

Horizon EMS Limited is registered on the Isle of Man – Company No. 139110C – and operates under the clinical direction of our Medical Director.

The People Behind It

Meet the Team

Clinical Director

Michael

Clinical Director & Co-Founder

Michael started his career with the London Ambulance Service in 2018 – joining as a trainee and qualifying as an ambulance technician during a period that included some of the most demanding operational conditions the UK ambulance service has ever seen. Working through COVID on the front line will do that to a person’s clinical outlook. It also tends to clarify very quickly what actually matters in pre-hospital care.

As Clinical Director of Horizon EMS, Michael leads clinical governance, operational standards, and service development.

Director

Peter

Paramedic – HCPC Registered

Peter started in the ambulance service in 2019 as an Emergency Care Assistant and worked his way up – through Technician and then to Paramedic – across NHS and private sector roles. That path isn’t the quickest route to registration, but it produces the kind of practitioner who’s seen every part of how the job works, not just the clinical bits.

Peter returned to the Isle of Man to co-found Horizon EMS, and brings both his HCPC registration and that breadth of experience to everything the company does – from frontline clinical work to keeping the whole operation running.

HCPC Registration verified at hcpc-uk.org

Clinical Oversight

Our Medical Director

Horizon EMS operates under the oversight of a qualified Medical Director – a practising physician who provides independent clinical direction across everything we do. That means protocol review, oversight of complex cases, and a framework that holds us accountable beyond just our own standards.

It matters because anyone can call themselves a medical service. Having a Medical Director who actually signs off on how we work means the governance is real – not just a logo on a website.

What Drives Us

Why We Do It This Way

We tell the truth

If you don’t need a paramedic, we won’t send one and charge you for it. If someone else is a better fit for your job, we’ll say so. That approach doesn’t always maximise short-term revenue, but it’s how you build something worth trusting.

We take it seriously

Every job – whether it’s a major event or a single patient transport – gets the same level of preparation and care. There’s no such thing as a routine job when it’s someone’s health involved.

We’re from here

We’re invested in the Isle of Man in a way that a UK company with an island contract simply isn’t. This is our community. The people we look after are our neighbours.
